Prof. Petersen is in charge of the Department for Preventive Health Management at the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Bonn since 1991. She has worked for many years in research on supply chain management; preventive health management; quality management and traceability in agriculture and food. She also has profound experience in TTI development and Quality and information management in food chains. She has extensive research and co-ordination experience at national and international level. Further on she is the chairwoman of the non-profit organisation GIQS “Cross Borders Integrated Quality Assurance Systems”. Task of GIQS is to improve cross border quality management systems for more transparency and consumer protection.

Professor Haarer is one of the original developers of the FreshPoint TTI technology. A PhD in physics from the University of Stuttgart in Germany, he is a professor in the physics department at University Bayreuth, and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Viessmann Kaeltetechnik AG. He served as head of the BAYER AG physics department and has been extensively involved in industrial research. Haarer's areas of interest include laser-spectroscopy, optical and photoelectric properties of polymers, and photoconduction xerography and printing technologies. He is a joint recipient of the prestigious Max Planck Award for scientific achievement.

Dr Taoukis is Associate Professor. He has worked and published in the areas of kinetic modelling of food deterioration during and post processing, quality and shelf life predictive modelling, food packaging, predictive microbiology, enzyme technology and development and application of Time Temperature Integrator (TTI) systems.

His extensive work in the area of TTI is considered the scientific state of the art, aiming to develop and apply optimal systems for food quality monitoring. Dr. Taoukis actively participates in European research and training projects and concerted actions. He also manages a number of National/EU supported multipartner projects. He currently coordinates the RTD project of Framework 5 –Quality of life " Development and application of a TTI based safety monitoring and assurance system (SMAS) for chilled meat products" (QLK1-CT2002-02545) (2003-2006) and has coordinated project FAIR-CT95-1090: “Development, modelling and application of TTI systems to monitor chilled fish quality (1996-2000)”. He participates in COLL-CT-2005-012371: “Integrated Approach to enable Traceability of the cold chain of Fresh, Chilled Meat and Fish Products by means of taylor made Time Temperature Indicators”, (2005-2008). He collaborates extensively with the food industry on applied research and development.

Results of his research have been presented in more than 120 scientific publications, conferences, book chapters and proceedings (More than 420 citations of this work have been registered in Science Citation Index).

Judith Kreyenschmidt is scientific assistant at the Department for Preventive Health Manage-ment since 2000. She has worked for many years in research on shelf live modeling, temperature management and tools for monitoring food freshness. She is co-ordinator of a working group in the field of Cold-Chain-Management. Research objective of her dissertation was the use of time-temperature-indicators in the meat chain. Her thesis was awarded by the “Stock-meyer research prize” in the year 2003.
